Apparently the gov't shut down the department that was formerly responsible for national holidays, so it is already Dec 16 and we have yet to be told what day(s) we will get off for New Year (the western one). This is especially pertinent since if we get more than 1 weekday off it is likely we'll have to work a weekend day before or after it to make up that extra vacation day. This is driving the planner in me nuts.
