Partying with the west of them

Went out my first night here in LKF, widely known as the ex-pat hangout area. It was a lot like London with even drunker people. You can buy alcohol at 7-11 and drink on the street, so it seems many people pre-party right in front of 7-11. You can even pay at 7-11 with your Octopus card (metro card), so it's like charging alcohol on your bus pass!
My pics of the street itself are terrible, so I won't include them, but this place is crazy. It's like a little maze of incredibly steep hills that are just bars (dotted with 7-11s - I guess those are bars of sorts - and drunk food take-out stands) and the street is packed with people milling about or drinking outside of pubs and bars. There are also clubs that are more official, and that do not have people hanging out outside, but in general the streets are just so packed anyway with people moving around.
We went to Balalaika, a Russian bar (I drank Lenincoladas?) that had an ice room (less than exciting); Solas, which had dancing and no one more Asian than me; and another place with a live cover band which was hysterical. Earlier in the evening when we passed they were playing hip hop (live!), but by the time we got there it was all funny stuff like Sweet Home Alabama and ABBA!!
I met and hung out with Chicago GSB 2008 grads that Stephanie and Emily knew, so that's who is in the pics.
